My Mother is in an excellent residential home but at 95 is beginning to "lose it" They are all very good and patient with everyone. She tried a different tactic today. She was having a bath (with help) when she complained about the water. Too hot? Too cold? No. nothing so routine as that. IT WAS WET. Can't imagine what I might have replied!!! Anne

That really made me smile- it's exactly the sort of thing my dear old dad would have said- as a wind up.

Hi All, Thanks fo your comments. Glad it brought a little mirth for you. Wish I could think it was just a wind up but for other reasons I am aware it is more like word finding difficulties. She has never shown a sense of humour, why would she start now. Anne

My mother in law's got dementia and looking back that was one of the first signs not knowing the right word to say.
I have often said that you could write a good comedy show just by sitting in a nursing home a few hours, but it wouldn't be classed as being very 'PC'.
She came out of the toilet the other day and called me over because she wanted to show me something. Oh dear I thought, what is it. Look she said pointing to the toilet pan all excited .......theres water in there............was a bit relieved I must say.
